In the age of Zillow, Trulia, and Redfin, sellers have a broad new digital landscape at their fingertips including websites, social media tools, and online advertising opportunities to promote the sale of their home. So with all these digital DIY resources available, why work with a real estate professional when you decide it's time to sell?

Pricing strategy, marketing reach, networking and the negotiation of an actual sale are great reasons for starters. When a homeowner decides to sell their house, they obviously want the best possible price for it with the least amount of hassles along the way. Beyond that, for the vast majority of sellers, the most important result is actually getting their homes sold.

Only 2% purchased their homes directly from a seller whom the buyer didn’t know.

Clearly buyers search for a home online, but when it's time to get serious about a purchase, most depend on an agent's guidance and expertise to find the home they will buy. The plethora of information now available has resulted in an increase in the percentage of buyers who reach out to real estate professionals to “connect the dots,” with the percentage of overall buyers who have used agents to buy their homes steadily increasing from 69% in 2001.

Keep in mind that working with a Realtor also opens other doors to expediting the sale of your house. Many professional real estate teams have well designed marketing programs that utilize social media, digital channels, and print publications to attract buyers to your listing. Reputable Realtors bring a whole network of local connections, neighborhood knowledge, and a circle of professionals in home related fields that can add additional exposure to your home and make it stand out on the market.
