Who doesn't have a favorite local spot to grab a slice of pizza? Whether it's a family owned neighborhood pizzeria that's been dishing out pies for generations, an award winning haute-cuisine-meets-crust-and-cheese restaurant, or just a kitchen that understands how simple ingredients and a hot oven can create culinary magic when treated right, we all have our go to pizzeria.

Long Beach's pizza scene covers just about every style in the creative spectrum, with traditional takes on Italian, east coast, and Chicago style classics sharing the spotlight with "out of the box" pies inspired by Long Beach's more recent cultural and culinary influences. No matter how you slice it, there's pizza for everyone's taste in Long Beach. Here're a few of our favorite hometown pizza joints.

Michael's Pizzeria

With its emphasis on wood fired crust, freshly made mozzarella, and Napoli style pizza traditions, it's no surprise Michael's Pizzeria is the brainchild of the original Michael's on Naples- the #1 restaurant in Long Beach, the #2 Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, and one of the highest Zagat rated Italian restaurants in Southern California. Known for the top notch ingredients like organic veggies, house made sausage, and restaurant grown tomatoes and herbs that top their bubbly, paper thin crust, a pizza at Michael's offers a taste of old world style craft right here in Long Beach. Michael's Pizzeria serves the Long Beach area with one location in Naples, right next to the original restaurant, and another in the downtown promenade.

La Parolaccia Osteria

A family owned and operated restaurant with a name that literally translates to "The Bad Language" in Italian, La Parolaccia Osteria is another great representation of traditional, wood-fired, thin crust pizzas. Don't miss out on their gorgonzola, ricotta, and pesto tricolore, their goat cheese porchini, and roasted garlic funghi, or their black truffle, arugula, and shaved parmesan tartufo.

7th Street Pizza

Besides serving up a great slice of pizza, they're also known for their specialty salads, sandwiches, and calzones.

Thai Curry Pizza by Dean

Definitely one of the more "off the map" destinations when it comes to Long Beach pizza spots, Thai Curry Pizza by Dean is famous among locals for their Asian inspired pizza toppings including a Thai curry tofu pizza and a tom yum style pizza with chicken. While they also serve traditional pizzas, if you're in the mood to try something new, their Thailand meets Italy style is not to be missed.

One of the most surprisingly delicious & interesting #pizza pies I've ever had. I don't do 'fusion' pizza... If you bring me to a spot that puts pineapple on a slice and calls it Hawaiian I will never trust your restaurant choices again. But this slice I had with @bshigeta via @amywaters down in long Beach ca was truly amazing, especially for me cause I'm a huge fan of Thai food. This right here is the Thai Curry Tofu Pizza, available at deans Thai curry pizza. I don't know how they figured it out, but they transferred the flavor profile of the classic Thai curry to a pizza pie - Curry sauce, basil, onions, bell peppers and tofu. So different, executed perfectly. If you are in long Beach and want something crazy (good), come here. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't try it myself. Thumbs up. #pommedesgarcons #leavingdishes #foodie #foodpics #eat #foodpic #hungry #foodgasm #hot #foodporn #longbeach #longbeachfood #pizza

No pizza is complete without their signature salad, famous for its creamy garlic dressing that's a favorite among locals.

5,000 Pies

Along the way they've also created some delicious pizzas. Whether you're a fan of regular crust, or you want to take on their famous "Long Beach Style Deep Dish" which requires 45-60 minutes of oven time to achieve pizza perfection, 5,000 pies a great spot to grab a delicious pizza and support the local community.
