Bring out your red, white, and blue, and let freedom ring! It’s almost Independence Day! This year marks America’s 242nd birthday, and celebrations are not to be missed! If you have yet to decide what to do this 4th of July, there are dozens of events happening around the Long Beach and Orange County areas. Whatever you choose to do, show your patriotic spirit and enjoy the day of celebrating our nation!

LONG BEACH

July 3rd Big Bang on the Bay

Get your 4th of July celebrations started early at Boathouse on the Bay! Boathouse is bringing back their annual 3rd of July Big Bang on the Bay. This year, enjoy a family style BBQ featuring bbq chicken, St. Louis ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and more - catered by Naples Rib Co. Live music on the patio and entertainment throughout the evening will lead up to a fireworks spectacular over the Marina. Entertainment will include everything from vintage aircraft flyovers and skydivers to a sailing regatta and dancing the night away. The celebration starts at 5:30pm and ends at 9:30pm after the fireworks, which start at 9pm. Great American 4th of July Kids Bike Parade

Justin Rudd! is at it again, bringing this Long Beach traditional event back for another year! The annual 4th of July Kids Bike Parade will take place the morning of July 4th at 1 Granada Ave in Belmont Shore. The festivities will start at 9:30am with a Kids Patriotic Speech contest. The contest is free to enter, and kids must give a patriotic speech no longer than 90 seconds. $10 prizes will be given. Following the speech contest will be the Kids Patriotic Costume Contest at 9:50am. This contest is also free to enter, and 5 finalists will win $10 prizes. At 10am the main event takes place - the bike parade! Though called the Kids Bike Parade, all ages are welcome to participate. The parade route is 2 miles long and follows the bike path down Bay Shore Ave to Second St. and back again. Also, there is no run/walk this year, like there has been in the past. All-American 4th of July at the Queen Mary

Celebrate the 4th of July in style aboard the Queen Mary! The All-American 4th of July festivities will feature live entertainment, family games, arts and crafts, special historic tours and a patriotic theatrical movie in the Queen Mary Theatre, and more! Dine at any of the signature restaurants on board or lounge at the bars. To top off the night, the Queen Mary presents a firework spectacular that will be seen across the entire Long Beach area - and you’ll have a front row seat! The whole day’s events will last from 2-10pm, July 4th. Tickets purchased before July 4th are as followed: Adult $44, Children (4-11) $24, VIP $99. Aquarium of the Pacific 4th of July BBQ

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with the red, white, and blue fish! The Aquarium of the Pacific will be hosting a 4th of July BBQ and festivities starting at 5pm. The BBQ starts at 6pm and will feature delicious choices such as all beef hot dogs with all the toppings, classic BBQ beef brisket with rosemary accents, watermelon arugula salad, corn on the cob, a dessert station, and more. After eating, enjoy the aquarium at dusk and see the place in a whole new light. You will also get a “fish-eye” view of the Queen Mary’s fireworks display starting at 9pm. The fireworks will last about half an hour, and you will be able to enjoy the aquarium until 10pm. Red, White, and Boom at The Reef

Get ready for the Red, White, and Boom! The Reef will be hosting a 4th of July party and All-American BBQ on July 4th from 7pm - 1am. The delicious BBQ will feature a Chef on the Grill with sausages, sliders, hot dogs, BBQ ribs, and chicken, along with potato salad, macaroni salad, apple pie, peach cobbler, corn on the cob, baked beans and more! A cash bar will provide alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase. Enjoy your meal and the evening overlooking the bay, along with the best view of the Queen Mary fireworks display. July 4th Pier Pressure Long Beach Fireworks Cruise

For those looking for a unique party experience, look no further than the Pier Pressure Fireworks Cruise. This cruise is Southern California’s Biggest & Best Yacht Party 7 Years Running! If you are in the San Pedro area, head to Cabrillo Beach for the 69th Annual John Olguin July 4th Spectacular! This all-day event is free to attend and is a perfect place to celebrate with the family. Festivities will include music, family games and activities, food trucks, and more. Finish the evening with a spectacular firework display above Cabrillo Beach, starting at 9pm.


CERRITOS

Let Freedom Ring Celebration

Join the City of Cerritos for the 45th Annual Let Freedom Ring Celebration! The day’s celebrations will be held at the Cerritos Civic Center beginning at 4pm. There will be rides, games, food trucks, live stage music, and more to entertain all families throughout the day. A Bell Ringing Ceremony will take place at 6:30pm and the Firework Spectacular will take place at 9pm. The Let Freedom Ring Committee would like to remind guests to please bring chairs and blankets for seating in designated areas, especially for the firework show. Pre-sale, discount ride wristbands will be available for $20 through Friday, June 29 at 4pm. After June 29th, all-day ride wristbands are $25. LOS ALAMITOS

Joint Forces Training Base

The cities of Los Alamitos, Cypress, Seal Beach, and Rossmoor are coming together this 4th of July to host a day of festivities at the Joint Forces Training Base. The 31st Annual Fireworks Spectacular will take place starting at 4pm, and will honor military service members and celebrate our nation’s 242nd birthday. It is estimated that over 14,000 spectators from throughout Southern California are expected to attend! The festivities will include food, musical entertainment, vendors, military displays, and the “longest and most spectacular fireworks show in the area” beginning at 9pm. The event is free to attend, but each guest must have a photo ID to enter.


ANAHEIM

Firecracker Run, Parade, and Fireworks


Over in Anaheim, indulge in a day of fun and festivities this 4th of July. The day’s events starts off at 7am in Anaheim Hills with the Firecracker 5K/10K Run/Walk. Immediately following the race will be a delicious pancake breakfast at Canyon High School, followed then by the Yankee Doodle Dog Show - their 4th of July Patriotic Parade. For the afternoon, head to Peralta Canyon Park to enjoy countless vendor booths, food choices, live stage music, and more. The night will conclude with a beautiful firework display above Peralta Canyon Park at 9pm. Disneyland

Celebrate the 4th of July with Mickey and Friends at the Happiest Place on Earth! Enjoy a day filled with Disney magic, leading up to one of the biggest firework displays in Orange County. While Disneyland features a daily fireworks display, this is a special production. This one-of-a-kind show entitled “A Fourth of July ‘Concert in the Sky’ will be sure to amaze, combining patriotic music with the red, white, and blue bursts over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. so Disney recommends to show up early (possibly 2-3 hours early) for a good spot.


HUNTINGTON BEACH

4th of July Celebration

Surf City, USA is known every year as one of the most popular places to celebrate the 4th of July. This 4th, there is an entire day of festivities planned to celebrate the holiday. Start the day with the Surf City 5k Run and pancake breakfast from 7-10am. At 10am, the annual Independence Day Parade will march down Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Yorktown Ave. This parade is the largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi River and will feature everything from bands, floats, local dignitaries, equestrian groups, film and television celebrities and community groups. After the parade, the festivities continue at the Pier with live entertainment, family activities, food, and more. The night will conclude with the fireworks display, which will begin at 9pm. As an important to note, staking out an area for parade viewing is allowed after 7 a.m. on July 3rd. Viewing from the street is free of charge, however, bleacher seat tickets are available for purchase. VIP fireworks seating on the pier is also available for purchase.
